Govt. Asked To Resolve Issues Faced By SL Workers In Jordan

The JVP backed Ethera Api organization requests the External Affairs Ministry to intervene to resolve a dispute involving Sri Lankan workers in Jordan.

Convener of the organization, parliamentarian Ajith Kumara has sent a letter to the External Affairs Ministry calling for intervention to resolve a dispute related to Sri Lankan workers at garment factories in an investment zone in Jordan.

Kumara has said that the dispute had arisen when foreign workers in the factories including Sri Lankan were excluded from the salary increment granted to the Jordanian workers. He states that the employers have violated the service agreements.

According to Kumara, the Sri Lankan mission in Jordan as well as the Foreign Employment Bureau have ignored the plight f the Sri Lankan workers in Jordan.
