UNP MPs Ask For Committee To Inquire KP

UNP MPs have handed over a motion to the Speaker calling for a parliamentary select committee to inquire and report on the former LTTE international arms procurer Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP.

A group of nine UNP parliamentarians have called for a parliamentary select committee to find out the circumstances under which KP is being held in custody and whether the government intended to file charges against him.

The committee is to also be given the mandate to find the locations of assets belonging to the LTTE.

UNP MPs Ravi Karunanayake, Lakshman Kiriella, Plaitha Range Bandara and Eran Wickremaratne are among those who have signed the motion.

Very good! Whilst the government had asked the rest of the world to proscribe the LTTE, it itself is using the present head of LTTE (KP) as an ambassador for SL. Further, the govt of SL wants the UN to hold the LTTE solely responsible for war crimes committed, yet they find KP good enough to do govt’s PR work. Looks like the govt of SL wants the rest of the world to dance to their tune.
