Govt.: Forensic Experts Would Look At Latest Channel 4 Footage
The Government has said it would check on the documentary on alleged war crimes committed in Sri Lanka during the war aired by Britain’s Channel 4 on Tuesday night.
Government Spokesperson, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has told the media that the government would have its own forensic experts and foreign experts to look and inquire into the footage.
According to Rambukwella, it was premature to comment on the contents of the video or how the government would respond.
A similar video was telecast by Channel 4 in 2009, which was proved to be false.
You may not like Channel 4 or what the film says about the end of the war but The Leader should be on the side of accuracy at least. None of the videos in the Channel 4 coverage have ever been ‘proven’ to be fake – they have been cleared by the UK regulator, the United Nations and numerous other independent witnesses. Government spokespersons have asserted they are fake, but that it has never been proven. Outside Sri lanka the suggestion that this is a fake film is laughed at. Time to deal with the tragic unfolding and aftremath of the war and its consequences. Too many heads have been buried in the sand already.

Premature???? Does this fool know how long this has been going on and the jokers in the GOSL have vehemently denied all claims to the authenticity of this video as everything else in the country.
Why this criminal government wanted to check these footgaes after 2 years? These are just eyewash to cover up genocide committed by Sri Lankan leadership and their followers
government should appoint APRC 2 commission to look into the matter so that it can pass time very easily until the commission die on its own.
I saw the footage of Channel 4. It appears that the footage is genuine. If Srilankan government and Defence Secretary thinks LTTE paid large sum to fabricate the footage, they should prove it. Gothabaya can put his bother, Mahinda Rajapakse in big trouble. Sadly the top jobs in the government are held by family memebers.

In the ” new ” video Sri Lanka Army find and gave it to a local television station to air, I did not hear the Northern Tamil Sri Lanka accent. I can hear the Southern Tamil accent. The Northern’s spoken Tamil dialect/accent is completely different from what is spoken in the south. South has more Malay (moore tamils) and Estate tamils, both has the similar accent to that of South Indians. Northern Tamil words are often mixed with Portuguese and Dutch words, must have been picked up during their colonial periods.
Let’s hope Sri Lanka Army Spokesman, Ubaya Madawela keeps his word and lets the “original or new” video be subject to the scrutiny.
