Mr Newton , What a false smile !
You should be an actor !!

  2. Aru

Convicted murderers who are happy about the crimes committed by them should be hung by their necks till they die. The death sentence should be re-introduced pronto. It is not worth spending public funds to feed and house such characters.

I agree with ur comment .The present laws on criminals should be amended and be re introduced with capital punishment so that crimes will not be committed and innocent lives will be saved ! Tuan M. Raban .Rome, Italy.

This guy newton is better than saddam hussain like. Smiling on death sentence. He may be knowing that he will get release or presidential pardon prbably. Eventhough public will not let him live and thats for sure.

  4. Paul

Those who have been found guilty of a double murder and sentenced to death are leaving the court with smiling faces. Is it strange or is it the Sri Lankan way?

  5. There is nothing called Justice in SL, the sentensing is an eye-wash just to please the victms, the accuseds will walk free very soon with the blessings of the President & Gotha.

      @ jerry,
This is a verdict given by the judge and it seems to fit the crime ,and You are talking about the President?? You guys just throwing anything you can find at the president, should be shame to call you as a fellow sri lankan. Try being bit fare next time, Just for a change?

      • Ronny

The President and Gota are both indirectly responsible since they have contributed immensely for all the police killings. These stupid police officers followed the seniors like Vaas Gunawardena and thought that they too could escape and would be promoted. They may have also thought that only the murderers, thugs and drug dealers have a place with Chinthanaya and if they act according to the laws of the country, they will get punishments. This officer has miscalculated – hence the noose and Rajapakses are not there to save them.

    • Bandara

Exactly Jerry. That’s why they are smiling.

You sentence the criminals -it is n eye wash .. Let them go free- still no justice in Sri Lanka. You must be dreaming for the day Sri Lanka is free of crimes like in the Heavens ???…

Minister Fernando’s wife had been out since her arrest for double murder; cinvicted and cinfirmed by Appeal court and finally pardoned by MR. Minister Ratwatte and his children are at larde and the army men are in jail. IGP who was suspected of giving order to shoot Chanaka was promoted as ambassador to Brazil. Hence Newton too may get a new life.

  7. Patriot

Mr.Newton is not better than miniter Fernando’s wife who torched two ladies, her husband’s mistress and servant, with petrol. She had never been behind the bars. Arrested, released on bail, convicted, conviction was confirmed and pardoned by His.Excel.MR. Mr.Newton is not better than minister Ratwatte and his children who are at large and five army men from poor families are in gallows. IGP M.Balasuriya is a given save heaven in Brazil with DPL protection. So why not Mr.Newton smile????

  8. Ron

Not only will Newton be free he will be issued with a forged passport and sent oversees. Nothing is what it appears to be in sunny Sri Lanka.

    • You mean like what came of Kudu Lal Peiris? It is rumoured that he has been granted asylum in the U K on the excuse that he will be murdered if he returns to S L.

  9. Rattapakse

Poor Cops!. You might have wished the victim to be Tamils so that you could have walked free as in the case of Trinco students….

  10. T.W. Nathan

From what I have read above so far it appears that people very much doubt whether the rule of law exists in Sri Lanka?

  11. Kiri Gamarala

The Law is an ass and the acknowledgement is in Mr. Newton’s smile.

  12. Chandrika

Yanne Koheda? Malle Pol. Why are you guys bring the Honourable President Mahinda Rajapakse and his brother into this scene? This verdict is given by a Judge in Colombo High Court. Don’t mix your apples and oranges.
    Chandrika

  13. Monkey Boon

Why to worry, after execiting double murder and next Feb 04 He will be at his own home. No worries,. this is Siri Lanka mannn

  14. Shiva

Thanks Jerry for your comments. This OIC will get a diplomatic post in a Western world and full immunity from the court decision by the Rajapakse brothers.

  15. Shiva

Chandrika, are you living in Sri Lanka or on a different planet?

It is a mandate in Sri Lanka that full immunity for all crimes by the state forces by the Rajapakse brothers. The OIC knows well and that’s why he is laughing as others are fooled by the state.

  16. Cassim

The same sentence should be given to the recant Dompe police station murder incident.
