The Sunday Leader

The Sunday Leader Is Not To Be Sold

The Sunday Leader contrary to widespread speculation is not to be sold.  The current management and editorial direction will continue unchanged.  Last week, a website prompted by parties with an axe to grind, carried an erroneous report that Leader Publications Pvt Ltd., together with its two newspapers ‘The Sunday Leader’ and its sister newspaper the ‘Iruresa’ are to be sold to businessman Asanga Seneviratne which report claimed is fronting for the Rajapaksa family who will buy a stake in the two publications.  Both newspapers will continue under the management and ownership of Lal Wickrematunge with Frederica Jansz and Mohan Lal Piyadasa as Editors of ‘The Sunday Leader’ and ‘Iruresa’ respectively.
The newspaper will continue as an independent publication – Unbowed and Unafraid.

Oh Great news…..We wouild like to continue to receive factual and gutty reporting by the Leader.
‘The scum and ickers like seneviratne and of course the big crooks and corrupt leaders woud love to see such a sale so that they can shut down honest and un-biased stories being made availabe to the general public.’Go the Leader and Iruresa.

Thanks for the wonderful news. I was really worried about the wrong news and cannot spend a single day without reading the only readable, honest news paper of Sri Lanka. Thanks a bunch again. May god bless the Sunday Leader management,
editors & the staff. Wish you all the very best, health, happiness. Appreciate your
“unbowed & unafraid” attitude.Keep it going for the benefit of the people who love
your hard work & at times a risky venture.

As the only credible journal it would have been a shame to see the company changing hands.
These r trying times for the editor Frederica Janz. Our well wishes r with you to continue reporting in the best interest of journalism against all odds. Keep it up and god bless you.

Srilankan government tried in many forms to block sunday leader from being existence because Mr & Gota felt this is the only newspaper stands up against
humanity and for the freedom of speech.By tranfereing the power of control from the existence mangement to the MR & Gota control management would make easier for them to hide all atrocity committed by them.

Sunday Leader must stand up with same vigour and charisma without surrendering to the forces that wants the end of media freedom.

The latest resolute comment must strengthen this process further.

Best wishes to Sunday Leader in memory of the great Lasantha Wickramatunga.

  12. The Government of Mahinda Rajapakse is trying to put a PRICE TAG on the Free Speech of the People of this Country. This Government is treating the Citizens of this country as if we have and lost our rights and self-respect when we voted this Government to Power. The Whole World is watching this government’s behaviors day in day out. Thank you Sunday leader for giving sound to our VOCAL CORDS.
