‘I Am The Monarch Of All I Survey, My Rights There’s None To Dispute’
Merve the Perve, has done it again in style. First, he tied a Public Servant to a tree, in the eyes of the public and television cameras, which was denounced by the public and public servants.
A disciplinary inquiry was held by the party hierarchy, consisting of three Wise Olws, and a Mhadanamutha judgment was given, accepting the plea of the accused that it was only a staged act. Strangely, this was accepted by the party leader as well, making us accept and believe so. Next came the poll tax forcibly imposed on traffic using a road repaired with U. C. funds. Then came a case filed in courts for forcibly demolishing a boundary wall. Surpassing all these, he has taken the law to his hands to seal shops which have not paid their taxes in the Kelaniya UC area. Isn’t there a legal procedure where the local authority institutes action in courts to collect the taxes? This scene of locking and sealing was shown on the TV. Also shown was the Minister for Public Relations, telephoning an errant shop owner, to pay up within 24 hours an amount due. The hilarious part, is that the Minister admitted that this particular shopowner had helped him at the last election to win him the seat. How he ‘helped’ is another matter and left to readers to guess. Serves the shop owner right, for he expected a clean administration and he has got it, so the voters of Kelaniya Elctorate. By the way, what happened to that Co-ordinating Secretary of this minister who was taken to custody and charged for taking ‘Kappan’?
One would question as to whether this is the type of government, kicking away normal laws of this country, making law enforcers redundant and the judiciary ineffective? What is the Police and the Judiciary there for, to condone such action? The President of this country, Mahinda Rajapaksa should seriously consider suitable action against this Minister to stop this nonsense and not give the impression to the public that he accepts the action of the minister. Has this particular minister flouted the pledges given in the Mahinda Chinthanaya, by resorting to this type of action? Is this mockery and thuggary of the much spoken democracy, a forerunner to the much publicised miracle state?
‘Bakalaya’, Peliyagoda.

He has also “banned” the sale of meat in kelaniya.
He is an exponent of Politics by Thuggery.
Strangely, none dare oppose him.
Does not the president realise that this man is bringing disrepute to the government.
The President is a tyrant himself so what do you expect? Birds of a feather flock together.
