The All Island Under 19 Invitation Schools Six – A – Side Cricket Tournament 2011 was conducted by the Maristonians Sports Association, under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.
Sixteen leading schools cricket teams from North, South, Central, Western and North Western provinces participated in the event, held last week on the Maris Stella College grounds. In the first semi final St Benedicts College beat De Mazenod College by 22 runs whilst in the second semi final St Patricks College pulled off a thrilling one-run victory over the fancied  St. Joseph’s College  with the winner decided in the last ball of the game.
St. Benedict’s College and St. Patrick’s College then clashed in the final. The Bens had maintained superb form right throughout the tournament and were firm favourites to win the Championship. However, the team from the North had other ideas. SPC Jaffna restricted the usually high scoring Benedictines to a modest 56 runs and went on to win the match in the last ball of the game.
J. Norbert of St Patricks College Jaffna was adjudged  Player of the Finals and Clinton also from St. Patrick’s was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
Sathyajith Wijayapura  Director /General Manager, a distinguished old boy of Maris Stella College, was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards.
