Police seize ‘Lanka’ copies

The police conducted a raid on the printing press last night where the ‘Lanka’ newspaper was being printed and seized over 20,000 copies.

Police spokesman SSP Maxi Proctor told The Sunday Leader that the raid was carried out following a court order.

A police complaint was received last night saying that the ‘Lanka’ newspaper was being printed by a former editor of the publication who had been suspended by the management of ‘Lanka’ newspapers.

Following the police complaint a court order was obtained and a raid was carried out on the printing press and the ‘Lanka’ newspaper copies were later seized.

SSP Proctor also said that five people were arrested over the incident and were later released on police bail.
