The Association of HR Professionals (HRP) recently elected its 2011/12 Executive Committee at its AGM held recently.
Ms Gayathri Chakravarthy (Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC) assumed office as the newly elected President, while Ms Chiranthi Cooray (Hatton National Bank PLC) and Asitha Jayatunga (Expolanka Holdings PLC) were appointed as Vice Presidents. Thilan Perera (HNB Assurance PLC) was appointed Secretary and Ms. Maduka Rathnaweera (CIC Holdings PLC) Treasurer.
Other office bearers: Assistant Secretary: Ms Chathuskka Seneviratne (Aitken Spence PLC) and Assistant Treasurer Ms Dinali Peiris (MAS Holdings). Isuru Tillakawardana (Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC) serves as the Immediate Past President and in addition 10 other prominent human resource professionals were appointed as executive committee members.
HRP had a successful year with many events, forums and programmes organized by HRP. Outgoing President Tillakawardana said that HR Awards-Knowledge Sharing Forum which was held during the review period was appreciated by both the HR community as well as the corporate world in raising HR standards at national level. Also, the affiliation with SHRM, the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management (HRM) is the beginning of a new chapter in the field of HR in Sri Lanka. Ms Chakravarthy assuming duties reiterated the contribution of HRP in bringing HR to the forefront and assured that the same will continue to be one of HRP’s prime objectives in the coming year.
HRP is an association dedicated to serve the HRP in Sri Lanka. The biennial National HRM Awards is the flagship event organized by the Association which promotes and rewards exemplary and innovative HR Best Practices in the corporate sector. In addition, many other professional development and educational activities are carried out by HRP together with a platform for networking and knowledge sharing. HRP members are qualified HRP from public & private sector organizations and are those who have a keen interest in the HR field.
