Death toll rises to 27

The death toll from the storm which mostly affected the south of the country last week rose to 27 today, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.

According to the DMC, 15 people now remain missing from the strong winds and flash floods experienced since last Thursday. Several fishermen who went out to sea had been reported missing.

Over 8000 houses were damaged from the storm and 1705 people who were displaced are still in displacement camps.
