Dilshan beats Sanga for cricketer of the year

Sri Lankan cricket captain T.M Dilshan beat Kumar Sangakkara for the cricketer of the year award at the CEAT cricket awards held in Colombo last night.

Sangakkara, who was initially tipped to win the award, was instead given the people’s choice award.

A total of 81 awards were presented at the 2011 edition of the annual CEAT cricket awards including Best Batting and Bowling Performances in Tests and One Day Internationals, the Debutante/Emerging Player of the Year, Best International Woman Cricketer of the Year and the Best Junior Player of the Year.

Dilshan’s selection for the award came as a surprise as he has performed poorly since taking over as captain of the team following the last cricket world cup held earlier this year.

This is totally incorrect, Dilshan cannot and will not match Sanga, Sanga is the best of the best.

I wonder how Dilshan won the ODI player of the year award and the Cricketer of the year award. Obviously he must have friends at the right places who allow him to keep the job as Captain despite the fact that he is just not cut out for it also made sure he gets these awards that he surely does not deserve based on the glaring stats given below -:

Here are the stats of our Test batters for the period Jan 2010 to Nov 2011 -:

Dont you know we Sri Lankans are famous vote riggers.

Dilsahn’s stats were done by RB Governor Cabral according to how he will perform over the next few years with a new system aptly name miracle of Asia calculation.

The best farce after the election results. Like some leaders he is the worst skipper that Srilanka has ever produced. After Sanga there was not a credible or an able guy (Mahela refused) to take over the rein so this fellow happened to be there. I dont even think that he is fit to represent the team in the first place where his moral or attitude or language is concern.
Anything could happen anytime in a banana republic.

I am sure this is a typing error. Dilshan was the people’s favourit before he was captain. Sanga was the best test batsman. Dilshan played well at the world cup. So he could be the best ODI batsman. Is CEAT an indian tyre? So nobody will take these awards seriously hereafter.

We all know Jayasooriya and Duleep Mendis need to keep him as Captain in order to bet in the international games.

This is all politics. Let’s look at the chain of events that leads to this. This actually starts from the World Cup Finals 2011. We all Know What Happened there. The finals were played by the politicians. Immediately Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela and the selection committee resigned. Dilshan was appointed captain. Even the toddlers knew he was the wrong choice. But he was the political choice. If we really wanted a new captain, it should have been a youngster like Angelo Mathews whom we can groom for the next world cup. Therefore I am not surprised of this shameful incident.

Looks like our readers are very knowlegeable. It never struck me that having Dilshan as Captain, Sanath and Duleep can bet on international games as said by Ruwan. These two are well know parasites and hthat is why Sanath even at 45 years wanted to play in WC and Duleep in addition to being Selector, wanted to be Manager and also for last 10 or more years has held all the different posts in SLC as he likes to eat the crumbs that fall from the Masters table. Sanath, Duleep and Dilshan have a common weakness as well apart from accumulating money.
