- Jaffna Commander Says Abduction Claims Baseless

The Army yesterday slammed Sarath Fonseka after he had alleged that the military was behind a spate of abductions in the north.
Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe told The Sunday Leader that Fonseka was making baseless allegations while serving a prison sentence on several charges.
The BBC Sinhala service quoted Fonseka as telling reporters outside court on Friday January 20, that the current security forces commander in Jaffna, Major General Hathurusinghe, was responsible for the spate of abductions and disappearances in Jaffna.
He also alleged that the Commander had taken money from the LTTE during the war when Fonseka was the Army Commander.
“The commander in Jaffna is the one who took Rs.30,000 a month as a bribe from the terrorist leader in Colombo during the war. He is the one who is behind these incidents,” Fonseka was quoted by the BBC as saying.
Major General Hathurusinghe told The Sunday Leader that another top ranking military officer had been charged for taking money from the LTTE and he was later presented in court and imprisoned. He said that Fonseka was now making false statements over that incident and is going further by alleging that the army is involved in abductions.
Major General Hathurusinghe said that police records clearly indicate there were no “mass scale” abductions taking place in Jaffna and that the incident involving two JVP dissidents is being investigated.
“The army is assisting the police to investigate the incident regarding the two missing people. But that is an isolated incident. If you speak to the police you will find there are no abductions taking place on a daily basis as some claim,” Major General Hathurusinghe said.
JVP dissident group supporters Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganathan went missing in Jaffna on December 9 last year and have not been heard of since.
Hathurusingha, why not go to courts against Fonseka & the Prison department for permitting such comments?
Hathurusingha will not go to courts as he knows very well that is the guilty party
it was a well known fact all corrupt Army officesr who were well paid by LTTE at that time are in high possitions in Army now. General Fonseka who committed his life to get rid of LTTE is in Jail. relatives of soldiers who sacrificed there lives will forever curse those crooks.
S Fonseka was blinded by greedy for money and power.He punished soldiers without any proportion although he him self raped a domestic helper of an army officer while he was in the army and got punished.Now he still thinks he has a place in SL society and dreaming of becoming the president of SL.He is insane now

As a Tamil I cannot stand this fellow for what his bloody military did to the Tamils (I do not give two $$$$ about what happened to the LTTE, but I am talking about the civilians). But at least I can say he is one honest bugger, who did not even own a home being a Commander. He went from home to home begging people to rent their home to him. But the sweethearts who are running the government are gloating in the money they stole from the people of SL and maintain a parliament full of thugs and underworld criminals. SF has a home in Homagama in Sri Lalith and another in Oklohoma in US.
Fonseka has no integrity or honesty and will lie, cheat and say another to further himself and fatten his pocket.
Hathurusinghe please note people of the country knows Great General SF remarks even before he reminded on the 20th.
only in Sri Lanka the accussed conduct its own inquiry instead of non partician (indendent ) inquiry.
ARMY cannot slam Gen. Fonseka , It was GEN . FONSEKA who led the Army to its greatest victories since independence . It is Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe trying to slam Gen. Fonseka .
Please don’t mislead people. When the army was about to declare the victory on wining the war, Gen. Fonseka was in China with his whole family enjoying the beautiful views of China’s great wall. No one is slamming Gen. Fonseka but his own self got him where he is now. Greediness, false allegations and his fowl mouth created this situation for himself. General population in the country knows exactly how Gen.Fonseka gave orders when leading the army
Maj.Gen Hathurusinghe is not making allegations against Gen. Fonseka. He is only denying the damaging allegations Fonseka is making to discredit the Army.

For me As a Poor Sri Lankan Citizen Both Mr.Rajapakshe and Gen Fonseka jointly anihilated the LTTE which enabled us to take our kids to school in public Transport!!!!
A war of such magnitude cannot be won without Strong Political Leadership so we have to give respect for Mr.Rajapakshe,s Courage.
Gen Fonseka led the Army during that phase and he too should be commended for his Skills along with the other Commanders of Air Force & the Navy!!!
What happened after is a sad Political State of affairs which will someday take our Country towards a Present day Pakistan / Afganistan. ( God forbid)
Mr.Sarath Fonseka will do any thing for money.During the election campaign we can remember the fabricated stories that he made in public..People know who he is and just come out with useless fabricated stories from time to time.
This is the prboblem you do not understand or do not want to understand. SF took part in liberating the LTTE held areas. Pls do not forget the work done by the Navy and the Air force. See what SF is doing now. When he was at the helm of the Army, there were abductions, assaults and killings. Has he taken any responsibility? People like Joseph Michael Perera blamed him for killing Lasantha. SF joined forces with the UNP to oust MR who promoted him as Army Commander. Where were you all when these things happened. Pls do not try to put blame on the the SL govt for everything.
With all the due respect to Gen. Fonny, may I ask him, Knowing fully well Gen. Hathurusinghe was taking bribes from LTTE, when Gen. Fonny was the Army chief, why couldnt he take action againts Gen. Hathurusinhe? coz he had all the powers then isnt it?

I just don’t understand this why can’t you just shut and finish your jail team and go live with your kids and be happy with them you have put them in so mach of pain and you still thinks that everyone is helping you. They only use you. UNP,JVP and so on your kids loves you and your wife stay away from all this party’s they only put you in more trouble do you really need all this you can’t win.

and stating hear say as facts is what caused his appeal to be rejected by the appeal court. and he still has not learned.

just because he led the war he is not entitled to betray his own army. if anyone is guilty of any offence he should have come out not as a man with grivences. now what ever says he tells with vengence and desperation.
Sarath Fonseka should be reffered to a Phsycologist, as he seems to have gone nuts after being in the prison. While being in the prison how the hell does he know for sure what is happenning in the North.
Otherwice Mahor Hathurusinghe should sue him for defamation.
The people who praise SF should know that he is the traitor who made UN and the West to call for International Inquiries against our brave Officers who fought the war while he was holidaying in China during the last phase of the war.
Major General Hathurusinghe is a well known person,especially in North and his dislike to Sarath Fonseka for reasons known in the Army circle. Sarath knows him too well & vice – versa. Hathurusinghe is really a Sathru singhe !

If Fonseka is saying the truth why the hell kept this officer in the force during his command. Fonskea is only a foul mouth. He always portrays that he is not fit enough to be an officer. The previous commanders did the right thing by holding him to account. It is MR government who gave him the powers and now shitting in their pants. Fonseka had never been trustworthy nor gentlemanly in his ways.

Ok guys………… Leave SF matters to rest. There are many good & bad deeds about SF. However, he is where he is because the Karma weighed in more to the side to be where he is now. Just that & leave matters at this.

Behind bars normally is a good reflection time BUT not for SF it appears.
One can not depict oneself to be seen as a strong man all the time. Thats foolishness.

Leave Hathurusinghe alone as well. just because a Canine bites someone, that does not mean that someone need to turn around & bite that Canine in turn.
