Sony international signs up Alston

Sony Music International has signed up Sri Lankan born singer Alston Koch to distribute his latest album “Don’t Funk With Me” set to be released next week.

While so many Asians have been signed up with regional Sony Music distributers Alston becomes the first Asian to be signed up directly under Sony Music International.

Alston Koch told The Hub (www.thehub.asia) that Radio stations in Britain played the track ‘Don’t Know Why’ off the new album without mentioning his name in order to get a feel of the public reaction to the upcoming album.

He said that there was a really good response to the track and it will now be released as a single following the launch of his new album.

Sony Music Entertainment is a global recorded music company with a roster that includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars.

The company boasts a vast catalog that comprises some of the most important recordings in history. It is home to premier record labels representing music from every genre. Sony Music Entertainment is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.

Artistes under Sony Music include the late Michael Jackson, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Jimi Hendrix and Paul Simon.

Sony Music International meanwhile said in a press statement that the single ‘Soul Sounds’ which is also off the same album will be released during the same week.

The single is a club mix with UK’s legendary Dave Ford and Ian Curnow and also has a special Euro mix by ‘The Beatfreeks’.

Sony Music International says the Australian and Pacific release of the Album together with the music video for the single shot in London, Sri Lanka and Sydney will be followed by other territories of the world.

The Album will be made available through all record stores throughout Australia and New Zealand and on iTunes from 12th February.
