Ministry Of Crab In A Boil

By Dinouk Colombage

Star cricketers, Kumar Sangakarra and Mahela Jayawardena’s new restaurant ‘Ministry of Crab’ has been found to be illegal.
The Department of the Registrar of Companies said that ‘Ministry of Crab’ was initially registered as ‘The Crab Corporation’ but changed its name following the launch.
Following a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday, newspaper editors were notified of the illegal nature of the restaurant which is situated at the newly renovated Dutch Hospital.
President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga had said that the name of the establishment was illegal.
He explained that the restaurant had originally been registered under the name ‘The Crab Corporation’ before being changed to ‘Ministry of Crab’. Weeratunga’s comments came after Rajapaksa had made an offhand joke about yet another Ministry being created in Sri Lanka.
N. Hettiarachchi from the media division of the Department of the Registrar of Companies told The Sunday Leader that it is illegal to register a name of an organisation under one name and then change it.
He added that any name change can only be done after having notified the Department. Hettiarachchi added that the approval and rejection of any registration of company names was at the discretion of the Director. Asked what action if any would be taken against the restaurant, Hettiarachchi responded that he was unaware of any action being taken against the owners or the establishment. He added that under normal circumstances the Department would notify the organisation of their breach of rules and request that they revert to the registered name

The crime is not in the name!!!!. BUT Why two multi-million celebrity Buddhists had to invest in a hotel dealing in crabs!!!! Don’t they have enough money to invest in a venture of this sort? Its really a shame as they pose as good Buddhist!!!

All they have to do is to change it back to Crab Corporation on the signboard and refer to it as the Ministry verbally. They cant take you to court for calling it the Ministry, can they?

  5. M. S. Fareek

It could be a trading name. You can have a brand name and operate it under a company surely.

I suggest that companies be prohibited from using names that imply they are State Owned ventures. It should apply even to ventures formally owned by the State. I know that such a Regulation exists in the UK.

Crabs are killed gradually putting them into boiling water. They have a most gruesome death after struggling for long time. How come Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardane get involve in such a brutal, barbaric activitlty. They call themselves “Buddhists”. My Foot. Mahela married a Catholic woman who shows her cross to the wide world. No wonder if he now secretly goes to the Church (this happenned to the Sana boy too). Kumar acts as if he is a Westerner and puts on an ugly British accen, I can’t standt. Go to hell you two. You discriminated against Dilshan and got the innocent man ousted. You two are nothing else but Devils in disguise.
