Deanna School Of Dancing A Moment To Rsemember

Students with the tutors of Deanna School of Dancing and The winners with Ms. Deanna Jayasuriya Founder and Principal

It was a moment of great honour and achievement when Deanna Jayasuriya, who has been associated with ballet for several decades watched a newer batch of students receive their awards.
The Deanna School of Dancing acknowledged and commended their most outstanding students this year.
Once again the students of this one of a kind  school sat for the Royal Academy of Dancing Exams 2011 which were conducted at their very own beautiful studio at Longdon Place, Colombo 07.
Examiner Ms. Susan Graham watched 293 students perform from the school, and once again the School had a 100% pass rate, with 33 receiving Distinctions. To Applaud the Distinction students, the School organised an Awards Ceremony.
Deanna Jayasuriya the Founder and Principal of the School welcomed Parents and Students and conveyed a heart felt speech. The School which was established in 1983, has come a long way thanks to the dedication and love for the art of Dance from Deanna.
She has single handedly steered the ‘Art’ Ballet in Sri Lanka, and churned out many many dancers who are performing all around the world.
This year the Awards were handed out by Deanna’s two daughters, Natalie  and  Natasha. They are both very much a part of Deanna’s world of Dance, and individually run different divisions of the school.
Every year three very special children are awarded trophies, chosen for their hard work, discipline and RAD results. This years trophies went out to: Junior School – Nimara Mahawatte, Middle School – Lakshani Sathasivam and Senior School – Senani Gunatilake. Parents enjoyed light refreshments after the Ceremony.  It was an evening to remember, and parents seemed over joyed with their children’s results. The RAD exams are not an easy task and it is quite an achievement to know the children of Sri Lanka are on par with International regions in the West.
Deanna’s hard work is a Pride to Sri Lanka, and her school is a great asset to the future of Ballet in Sri Lanka.
