G.L. Assures Support To Maldives
External Affairs Minister G. L. Peiris has assured the new Maldives government continued assistance and cooperation.
The Maldives Foreign Ministry said that Maldives Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah on Friday held official talks with Professor Peiris, who is in the Maldives on a four day official visit. During the official talks held at the Foreign Ministry both Foreign Ministers discussed ways of further strengthening the close historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
During the talks Prof. Peiris assured the continued assistance and cooperation of Sri Lanka to the Maldives.
Minister Samad thanked the Sri Lankan Government for the contribution to the socio-economic advancement of the Maldives, especially through human resource development. The Sri Lankan delegation included Sajin De Vass Gunawardena, Monitoring MP of the Ministry of External Affairs, Sri Lankan High Commissioner W. W. M. R. D. S. Dela and other officials.
I thought the former Maldivian President was considered a good friend by Sri Lanka, just a few months ago? Perhaps the vote at the UNHRC fixed that, huh?
most people remember that the same G.L assured U.S on credible investigation and implementations of LLRC.

not everyone with a Ph.d is effective. GL is knowledgeable, he can give u a good 1hr lecture on economy but he isnt effective to convince a foreign gov to accept a deal in Sl’s fav. conclusion, GL can be a very good professor but very bad politician
