Throw Out The Old For Younger Better

A former diplomat who served in a Western capital was talking to friends about his experiences. He referred to a visit by a senior left-of-centre politician who visited the capital and also had dinner with him. The diplomat said he was quite impressed with both the politician and his young wife for their knowledge of nano (“dwarf”) technology. A friend who knew the politician well was surprised, not about the man’s knowledge on scientific matters but that he had a young wife. “But his wife is …” blurted the friend and  stopped, realizing that something was wrong. “Oh” said the diplomat, “the one you know must be the one with the old technology”.
