FLASH: JVP dissident leader found
JVP dissident leader Premkumar Gunaratnam alias Noel Mudalige has been found after being reported missing since last weekend.
The police said that Gunaratnam appeared before the police late last night and gave a statement and was scheduled to leave for Australia this morning.
Australian authorities also confirmed that the activist reported missing by his family and political party in Sri Lanka had been found.
“We can confirm the safety of the 42-year-old man from New South Wales reported missing in the region of Kiribathgoda, Sri Lanka, on 7 April,” an Australian official told AFP, declining to elaborate.
The Immigration and Emigration Department meanwhile confirmed that Noel Mudalige had left Sri Lanka for Australia via Malaysia onboard a Sri Lankan airlines flight this morning.
Not found, but reluctantly released by the government due to all the publicity in the local and foreign media regarding his abduction…

A fellow called “Gunaratnam” left Australia…. but never arrived in Sri Lanka

Meanwhile Australia is going ape-sh!t because “Gunaratnam” has apparently “disappeared”.. of course, no one, least of all “Gunaratnam” or the Australins will mention that the decision to change identities was made by Gunaratnam/Mudalige mid-flight
Like as not, “Mudalige” spent a couple of happy days, incognito on a beach somewhere, sipping a few cold ones…. and maybe doing other things as well,
When the stuff hit the fan, he decided to make himself “known” AND make some mileage out of it.. Now he claims “sexual abuse”…. heh!.. I am sure there was sex involved in his disappearance but most probably not abusive and most likely, consensual….

our economic develop minister n defence secretary are US citizens who stayed in US for decades n just recently came down to help their brother in presidential election.
if he cant do politics in sri lanka, check his visa, if he came in tourist or business visa n not diplomat visa, DEPORT HIM, NOT KIDNAP HIM.
but the biggest question is, last time when UPFA politician(jeevan kumaratunga’s bro in law) was kidnapped, a call to president made way to his release in less than 30mins after kidnap. in this case, this guy too released when aussie ambasidor requested to find him. like if president or defence secretary can make people who were kidnapped, WAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Surely he’s not the only foreign passport holder engaged in politics in this country – a sprat compared to the whales holding real power…AND foreign passports!

In a civilized society police and government should be able to protect all citizens regardless of gender, ethnicity, and their political opinion. Only a court of law can determine punitive action, and they have a right to appeal. Era of yathathvasian and rulers dictating on citizens no longer exists anywhere in the world.

The Australian authoroties should cahrge under the CRIMES (INCURSION AND RECRUITMENT) ACT 1978 WHERE IT CLEARLY SAYS (SECTION 6 & &7) THAT ANY AUSSTRALIAN CITIZEN INVOLVED IN HOSTILE ACTIVITY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY IS AN OFFENCE AND CAN BE CAHRGED UNDER THIS ACT.
