SF Case Under US Observation

The case involving former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka has drawn a lot of attention not just locally but internationally as well. A US Embassy official is seen here making his way to the Supreme Court last week to monitor Fonseka’s case .                                                       (Picture by Indika Sri Aravinda)

what right the US to draw attention to the matters in courts in SL. its true they had much attention to the trial against Saddam Hussen just to see he is convicted and hanged. this not afganistan or iraq

True, USA or any other country has no right to interfere with judicial matters in Sri Lanka, like wise Sri Lanka has no right to interfere with judicial matter in other countries. Here the exception is thsi country USA thinks and their stooges approve that it has all the GOD given rights to dictate terms to small countries who cannot stand against them even verbally. But they hide their tails like dogs when it comes to Russia, and China. USA ruined middle eastern countries but they couldn’t do a dam with Syria because USA is afraid of Russia who is behind Syria.

then stop begging for money from the west!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as Lankan courts cannot even ensure basic human rights of its own citizens, who then do you suggest should draw attention to these cases? Don’t hide behind finger pointing. If you are a true lawyer, do something about accountability in SL’s judicial system

If you are a lawyer by profession , you should know that , not only US but any body who likes to see what is going on SL Courts, has rights to go there and watch.

Lawyer, sorry to tell you there is something calld “Human Rights” in the civilized world,to establish Human Rights, any civilized country can stand against violation of “Human Rights”. Not only that Srilanka is a country in the “Beggers List” of World Bank. As the biggest investor of this lending organization, U.S.A. has the executive power to watch what is going on in the countries funded by them.

I cannot understand why the US Embassy is monitoring our legal process, in contrast to their own which is full of holes and universally condemned – prisoners tortured and held for years without a charge, prisoners denied legal representation and many more. Sarath Fonseka had a fair trial and was convicted. Perhaps our government should present the evidence to the US Embassy and get their approval before convicting anybody that the US has an interest on.

You know the reason why they were at the SC last week, Hillary had to be told of the outcome, otherwise what interest have they got?? This is the reason General will be released. Wimal Weerawanse how about another Fast un to Death at the US Embassy.??
