President’s speech at UK forum cancelled
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s scheduled speech at the Diamond Jubilee Commonwealth Economic Forum in London tomorrow (Wednesday) has reportedly been cancelled.
The President was scheduled to address the event at the Mansion House tomorrow morning while in London for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Queen.
However the President’s speech has been reportedly cancelled owing to security concerns following protests by the Tamil Diaspora.
Meanwhile the official website of the Commonwealth Business Council which is hosting the Forum said that the morning session has been cancelled but the afternoon session will go on as scheduled.
“After careful consideration the morning sessions of the Forum on Wednesday 6th of June have been cancelled and will not take place. The event will therefore commence with lunch at 1300hrs followed by the originally planned afternoon sessions beginning at 1400hrs,” the Commonwealth Business Council said.

This man should realize by now that he cannot rub shoulders with these type of people. This is the second time that so called speech by MR was cancelled. What he should do is attend Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, and return home without getting humiliated. After all, he should also be aware that in relity there is no such animal called Commonwealth any more. The days the British robbed the nations under this phrase is long gone and those countries which were under their pressure is completely out of their claws and some does not care two hoots for this so called commonwealth installed by the British for their own benefits. So it is about time MR return home without spending the money got as loans from IMFor WB and release the burden from the citizens of the country by some percentage. Additionally who cares for MR’s speech, only benefit is that the members will come to know that he speek Sri Lankan English and not British English..

A shame to Sri Lanka. This is the second time MR had to face humiliation from the Britishers. It is adivisable that the President of Sri Lanka keep away from any western countries. MR has so many African and Middle east countries to visit.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. It would be advisable for MR to avoid going abroad too much. He should cut back on his international loafing, and try to fix things at home. He can start by trying to find those Sri Lankan citizens who have been taken away by white vans.

UN panel of experts clearly stated that over 40,000 innocent Tamils been brutally killed by the Sri Lankan forces during the final war in May 2009. The UNHCR passed a resolution condeming Sri Lanka and to show accountability for the killings of innocent civilians.
