AIS Win All Island Boys U-14 Basketball Championships 2012
Taher Akbarally leads his team to victory
Asian International School emerged winners in the all Island School boys under-14 Basketball championships 2012 when they beat Azhar Central Akurana in the final 90 – 72 at the AIS courts on Sunday.
This year 68 schools took part in this tournament and Asian International School was the only unbeaten team.
A.I.S fought hard to win over St. Thomas Mt. Lavinia in Semi – finals which they won 67 – 63.
Taher Akbarally of A.I.S was adjudged most valuable player of the tournament and Shazon Perera of A.I.S the best defensive player.
St. Thomas Mt. Lavina beat C.I.S Colombo in the consolation finals.
The tournament was conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association.
The chief guest at the finals was Snr D.I.G Retd I.P Kanagaratan Senior Vice President of Sri Lanka Basketball Federation.
