$ 10 Mn. Data Storage Market

Sri Lanka’s US$ ($) 10 million data storage market is growing in double digit terms annually from a lower base, a service provider told this reporter on Tuesday.
Kevin Eggleston, Hitachi Data Systems’ (HDS’) Senior Vice President and General Manager Asia Pacific valued the global data storage market at $ 30 billion of which he said that they had a 10% market share.
Eggleston further said that they had a $ one million plus stake in the local market, on par with other industry leaders such as IBM.  He said that they were growing at the triple digit level in Sri Lanka, while their peers were growing in the double digit range.
Their main target audience was the telecoms, banking and the public sectors, with the manufacturing sector led by garments too being added on in the local market. Typically, the first three mentioned sectors comprise 60% of the data storage market globally, he said.
