Suspect Not A BMICH Employee

The management of the BMICH has said that the suspect who was arrested for raping an underage girl on the BMICH premises is not an employee of the BMICH.
The suspect who raped the school girl on June 9 was further remanded till June 25 by the Fort Magistrate last week, the police said.
Police Spokesperson S. P. Ajith Rohana said that a 19 year old suspect has been taken into custody for raping a 15 year old girl at the BMICH and investigations found that the girl was having an affair with the boy.
“The boy is an employee of the BMICH and he was produced in court the following day. The girl was handed over to her parents and they have lodged a complaint at the Cinnamon Garden police station over the rape incident,” SP Rohana said.
However Director General of the BMICH, Bandula Ekanayake said that the suspect was not an employee at the BMICH and was only employed at one of the outlets operating within the BMICH premises.
“A worker at one of the outlets at the BMICH is not an employee of the BMICH. They were found misbehaving during the mega motor show held on June 9 and one of our employees had informed the police post about the couple. Our institution has nothing to do with this incident as we cannot avoid such happenings at a place where regular large scale activities are taking place. We cannot take responsibility for repulsive behavior of any party who visits us uninvited,” said Ekanayake.
