Workshops On Earning Money Online Illegal – CB

Conducting workshops for the public on how they can earn money online is illegal, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said.
An official of the bank said that several advertisements have been appearing in the newspapers promoting workshops on earning money online.
The official said that the Central Bank does not recognize any scheme where the public can earn in US dollars online.
The official said that such schemes are a violation of the Exchange Control Department Act and legal action can be filed.
He also cautioned individuals against giving their credit card information online to institutions which offer money.
The Central Bank says credit card data can be duplicated and misused in such a process.
