Tea Up Rs. 0.6 Bn.
Tea export earnings in the first five months of the year increased by Rs. 0.6 billion year on year (YoY) to Rs. 65.5 billion.
However in volume terms exports were down by three million kilos YoY to 121.1 million kg. Tea in packets showed a growth, whilst tea in bulk and tea in bags showed a decrease. CIS has retained the number one position followed by Iran and Syria. Other noteworthy importers were Iraq, Turkey and Libya.
Meanwhile tea exports in May increased by Rs. 1.29 billion YoY to Rs. 14.08 billion, while in volume terms it declined by 0.2 million kg. to 24.7 million kg. YoY. (Source: Forbes & Walker)
