Bloody good for these high minded politicos.

  2. gamarala

The Chief Justice has reportedly said that this was a private matter between Bathiudeen and the Mannar magistrate.
Is this an indication that the matter will be buried by the legal bureaucracy?

See that there is an end to this or you will have hell to pay. This is the time to show these hoodlums that they can’t push and shove people all the time. People like him bring shame to all Muslims.

  4. THE GOVT. MUST USE SHARIA LAW TO PUNISH THIS MUSLIM MINISTER. A SHAME TO OUR COUNTRY.

Sharia law is only for barbarians. We are very civilised and, therefore, we have to apply democratic laws.

Personal or human rights are not vested rights but claims.Wherever they are presently permitted to be enjoyed, they have got to be consistently and continually insisted upon and fought for.One of the greatest political myths in this country is that the courts of their own volition will protect the rights of invividuals.
It is in this respect that the intervention by the Bar Council in the case filed by the seven senior lawyers calling for Minister Rischard Bathiudeen to be punished over the acts to intimidate the Mannar Magistrate is to be welcomed..

IT IS JUST NOT LAWYERS BUT ALL PROFESSIONALS, MUST TAKE A
UNITED STAND AND SEE THIS BUGGER IS KICKED OUT AND LEGAL ACTION
TAKEN AND HE SHOULD BE SENT TO JAIL. IT WILL BE A LESSON TO OTHERS. I WONDER WHAT OUR JUSTICE MINISTER RAUF HAKEEM
HAS TO SAY SINCE HE IS SHOWING HIS TRUE COLOURS IN BEING IN
THE UPFA AND FIGHTING AGAINST THEM IN THE EAST..
    THIS IS “DOUBLE-FACED” HYPOCRISY.
SUSIL-WHAT HAVE YOU TO SAY!!!!!!!!!! GO TO THE HOUSE OF LORDS!!!!!!!
ANYTHING IS PERMISSIBLE TO BE IN POWER

At a time when a major terrorist war has just been ended, this Minister Bathdeen should have had the sense to keep away from stoking fires which could further escalate tensions and bring the muslim community into disrepute. This just shows the extent of his high-handed arrogance and political power drunkenness. He needs to be cut down to size before he could bring more shame to the muslim community.

I also totally agree. There simply HAS to be an end to this manner of intimidation of the Judiciary by politicians. Punitive action is a must. AG

We welcome the lawyers’ unity on this issue. We expect the CJ to do the same to uphold justice in this country.

  11. Lawyers be aware! from the right hand comes the punishment , invisible hand delivers the pardon! so what?

RISHAD IS A PEOPLE’S MAN. SO IS THE PRESIDENT. LAWYERS ACTION WILL RESULT IN ZERO. UNDERSTAND THE GROUND SITUATION. THIS IS SRI LANKA NOT USA OR UK.
