Upcountry Lions shock CR, Kandy edge Havelocks

Upcountry Lions registered the upset of the season when they trounced CR & FC by 34 points to 7 and Kandy SC remained the only unbeaten team when the edged out Havelocks 20-15 in two crucial Dialog A Division Inter Club rugby games played on Saturday.

The UpCountry Lions trounced CR 34-7 in their encounter at Longdon Place on Saturday
The Lions scored 2 goals and 4 tries to CR’s solitary goal. Rajitha Sansoni, Sashan Mohamed, Sagith Saranga, Nigel Ratwatte and Radhika Hettiarachchi scored for the winners whilst Vishwamithra Jayasinghe scored CR’s try which was goaled by Nipuna Devinda.

Kandy SC edge out Havies 20-15
Kandy SC remained the only unbeaten team in the season when they edged out a gallant Havelocks side by the margin of one try in their Dialog inter club rugby match played at Nittawela on Saturday..
Kandy’s points came from 1 goal, 2 tries and 1 penalty to Havelocks 1 goal, 1 try and a penalty. The winners led 10-7 at half time.
Fazil Marija, sean Wijesinghe and Pradeep Liyanage scored for Kandy whilst Niroshan Fernando and Chamara Dabare scored the tries for Havelocks.
