Over 4,100 Corruption Probe Reports Handed Over To President

Investigation reports totalling 4,014 on financial fraud and corruption committed by high ranking state officials, have been handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, an officer of the Special Presidential Investigation Unit said.
The reports, compiled by the Unit on complaints from the public during the last two and half years, have been handed over to the President through Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga.
According to the officer of the Investigation Unit, they are not under any pressure to conduct the probes on public complaints and once the probe reports have been handed over to the Presidential Secretary, the Unit has no responsibility whatsoever on further action on those probe reports.
The unit said that it had received 1,316 complaints in 2010, 1,568 in 2011 and up to August this year, the number had shot up to 1,230.
The officer noted that although the Unit recommends the steps that should be taken on the probe reports, the final decision is with the Presidential Secretary and the President.
Meanwhile, Anura Dissanayake, JVP parliamentarian during a media briefing on August 16 charged that the President is making use of all Presidential Investigation Unit probe findings for political advantage.
Dissanayake stressed that the number of probes and the action taken against errant officials should be revealed to the country.
This is comical. Most of the mega big time corruptions are being done by his family members. MR is the most corrupt and useless leader came to power ever after independant. The man cannot even face an interview to begin with. Might as well throw those 4000 complaints in a trash bin than handing over to this corrupt leader, as nothing would happen.

What is the point!! So called many presidential investigations, commissions etc have gone to the dust bin. NOT a SINGLE report is known to the public or any action !! Out of 4100 , more than 95% must be his family, lackys, ministers and other political crooks…. so what chance!!! What chance of the so called disgraceful president, who forced his party to give a not guilty verdict on Mervyn for tieing a man to a tree in public and then refucing to punish against many hundreds of barn door illegal/ unlawful activities done by him !!! To cap it up the presidential judgement is such that he gives him the ministership of Public relations !!!!

What has president got to do with punishing the corrupt. He is not the almighty king of this land. When he has surrounded him by his family and acting like the father of corruption what can anyone expect from him. He is not in a position to address corruption. This is more meaningful if an independent commission has the power to investigate and do the needful.

Who will investigate corrupt politicians and their henchman?
It must be handed over to the police the Attorney General and the Judiciary.
They are all under the Presidents thumb. When the President himself may be invoved with corrupt practices like Tsunami funds magical dissapearences. What do you expect, impunity with all its vices.
Looks as all the 4,100 corruption charges are against MaRaya and his family clowns.
The biggest JOKE of the year. What good does it make and what can you expect from an individual who robbed millions of Tsunami money? If there are any honest politicians who love our mother land, this is the time to leave behind party politics and fight corrupt family dictators to save our mother Lanka.

If corruption is to be stoped in Lanka the investigation should be entrusted to an independant global audit company, as the money they rob is the poor direct & indirect tax payer in Sri Lanka. Judgement should be made by a panel of Judges.
Is it also not fraud that Lankan politicions do not pay income tax whilst the hard working poor people pay.
Corruption must be stoped in Lanka as it robs the poor who struggle to live.

This has become a way of life, On Jul 27th from Tahanmalwila to Katharagama, I was stopped for speeding on a lonely,deserted road for driving at 81 kph, These cops charged, issued a ticket for Rs.1000 and additional Rs.100 saying that they will pay it to the post office.How nice ? They were so cool, well mannered, I beleived them untill I was told by a friend in Colombo that they cannot take money.
I put ithis for charity, times are bad, money is hard (for us). so I suggest you put this 4100 cases for vertical filing. I love my country. you call this sad state “something in Asia.”
Why hand over the reports to the King of Corruption? Why can’t legal action be filed in courts and judgement meted as per the laws of this land?

Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardna who has Rs 600 Million unaccounted wealth has upto now refused to attend courts to face case filed by the Bribery Commission, for many years. Police officers who wereinvestigating his wealth were transfered out long ago, and not replaced.
This will be done by many others too.
The Commission is a big farce, to fool the public.
This is the time for President to show the people that there is transparency, accountability and justice under his ruling. No matter how much money allocated to ministries and projects, if they are been pilfered by the responsible parties, there will never be progress in the country. The probe report should also be submitted to parliament and necessary action should be taken not to happen these in future. Also public has a right to know these corruptions.
What is the idea in reporting corruptions to Mahinda Rajapaksa, he is the mother of all corruptions in Sri lanka.
The contents of this report will never be released to the public. The President will hold on to the names for many reasons.

4099 cases will be dropped as they are about the Rajapakse family.
Even the single case has to be dropped ,since the daughter of the alleged is the girl friend/ air hoastess sinking lanka air lines and the investigators are in no mood to sleep with a horse’s head.
I would say out of 4000 corrupt deal 90% is commited by MR’s family and the rest are commited by his immediate family, friends and party supporters. Under MR’s rule everything is corrupted.

May be, compared to the rest of the rogues in the parliament, stealing from Tsunami funds have been be the least qualification that the President holds to qualify to hear corruption probes aided by Lalith Weeratunga who aided to cover the facts with the Tsunami funds as well, I guess. What a nation we have. We appoint the best aid to steal the national coffers as the Secretary of Treasury who has a great track record having served other rogue presidents before. What a nation. When are we going to reelect them again?
