UNP MPs Wife Claims She Was Assaulted

The wife of UNP Puttalam district MP Palitha Range Bandara was hospitalized yesterday after being allegedly assaulted by her husband.
According to the Mirihana police Mrs. Bandara was admitted to the Sri Jayawardenapura hospital following the alleged assault. The hospital police post had recorded a statement from the wife of the UNP MP and then informed the Mirihana police.
The police said that the assault had taken place at a house in Nugegoda. Investigations are underway.
When The Sunday Leader contacted the MP he rejected the allegation that he had assaulted his wife.
He said that they had an argument over a private financial deal and she had then got herself admitted to hospital claiming that she was assaulted by him. When The Sunday Leader contacted the hospital, a doctor speaking on the condition of anonymity said that the wife of the MP had sought treatment for internal injuries to her head.
A scan was to be carried out to check the extent of the injuries.
