Sison Arrives In Sri Lanka

By Dinidu de Alwis

United States Ambassador Designate to Sri Lanka Michelle Sison arrived in the country on Friday, the US Embassy in Colombo said.
Safety of media workers and rights activists would be at the top of her agenda, Sison said during her senate hearing in June this year. Prior to her appointment as the Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Sison served as Ambassador to Pakistan and Lebanon.
Details of her presentation of credentials are being ironed out with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of External Affairs, the US Embassy in Colombo said. Sison replaces Patricia Butenis, who served as Washington’s envoy to Colombo from 2009.
