SLMC In Crisis Over Agreement With Govt.

The SLMC is in crisis over the decision to support the governing UPFA for the administration of the Eastern Provincial Council.
The meeting of the SLMC High Command, the party’s decision making body, had to be adjourned midway due to protests by many members over the decision of the party leadership and a few members to join the government in the Eastern Provincial Council. A member of the SLMC High Command on condition of anonymity said the members had objected to the manner in which the party leadership had reached the decision to back the governing party.
“The final decision was made without any consultation with the High Command and without any transparency,” the member said.
He explained that the party has failed to achieve its political strategies with its decision to back the government.
The SLMC initially demanded the post of Chief Minister of the Eastern Provincial Council and later agreed to allow a governing party member to be appointed as the Chief Minister.
SLMC High Command members have said the leadership which negotiated with the government had got two ministerial portfolios for the party.
“There are five portfolios in the Council including that of the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister has been appointed from the governing party and two ministerial portfolios have been given to the SLMC. One Sinhalese and one Tamil councillor are to be appointed to the two remaining portfolios,” the High Command member said.
However, he explained with the resignation of Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, the government is now looking at handing a ministerial portfolio to a representative of Minister A. L. M. Athaullah.
“This is a negative mark for the SLMC’s strategy,” he said, adding that the SLMC has not got the Chief Ministerial post and has failed in achieving its political strategy.
SLMC Leader and Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem had said the High Command would be convened after more discussions with the government.
Many attempts by The Sunday Leader to contact Hakeem failed.
Sri Lankan politicians sell themselves for perks and ministerial posts. They contest elections by allying with one party and cross over to the party in power for mere perks. There is no principle or policy but shameful auction of their self-respect. For example,The minister of justice, Rauf Hakeem, accused the Rajapakse government of discriminating Tamil speaking students in admission to Law College and witnessing demolishing Mosques only to abandon his priciples to form Eastern Provincial Council with the CM appointed from the UPFA Party and not from his SLMC.

Why ONLY Rauff? The entire Sri Lankan cabinet and specially the MR & Family must go before the corruption investigations. Bunnis Hora and cycle hora get caught and these multi million frauds go scot free!! What a country we are living in!!
Why can’t the so called High Command sack this traitor if they have a back bone? Or is it a drama from them too?
SLMC is doing manky politics in our country and when they got members elected after they do their own. this is shame for all our Muslim community. so the Muslim community should work with the government as a Sri Lankan. but he is only wants Ministerial post. don’t care the Muslim community. Quite the contrary…the only man in the parliament or Sri Lankan political scene with a vision is Hakeem.He could have contested under the UPFA banner but he didn’t, while maintaining his ministerial post. Now they will have the control of the Eastern PC and in two years, they will have their own CM as well. This high command threatening is just a forceful attempt to gain more out of this victory in the East.

Hakeem is a disgrace to the entire Muslim community. He brings shame and insult to all Muslims..
Why do the foolish Muslims tolerate this uncrupulous opportunist. By shouting the govt. is demolishing mosques he incites the ordinary man to win support.. Have the Muslims forgotten how his mistress Kumari killed herself.
What is the bloody high command doing.Are they just towing with this man.
He caused uproar among the Budhist by referring to saffrom clad terrorist and created a rift between the Muslims and the Budhists.
I hope the Muslim voters will think deep when he blames other communities to create racial and religious fervour among particularly among Young Muslims.

Dear Singhalease brothers and sister, if hakeem support TNA led provincial council you all are label him as a terrorist without any delay even you are not favor of UNP or SLFP but when he support the government again now you all talking about money and many things, these are the mentality of singhalease. Also remember if hakeem support TNA to form provincial council government I am sure Mahinda Rajapaksha government will dissolve within few days council, what stupid chandrika has done even UNP got clear majority on that UNP led government. Do we need an SLMC? What has the so called cogress has done for the Muslims so far after the demise of late MR Ashroff. Ataulla, Hisbulla and the rest are just like Weerawanse, Champika, Dulles etc. At least, Champika Gammanpila etc, are otherwise jokers still protect Buddist interests. Hakeem, you have made yourself a laughing stock. You have no control over the party. You are a puppet sitting as a leader. Why do you wasting everyones time and hopes. Its crystal clear you are dancing for MR’s beat and cheating the poor voters everytime. MR is cheating the enire Sinhala population and you cheating the eastern ‘mattayas’ from your level. You can never win again in Knady, mind you and not in Colombo either. Do us a favour, let MR fly a kite with that infamous video he got of you and Ku, please retire from politics. You have enough money so you can relax or streamline Carnival and upgrade its products. If politics is your hobby and if you cant really give up, please wait till RW comes to power, guaranteed Mr Wickramasinghe wouldnt do cheap threatenings for his survival. MR is a Hyena (carnivorous scavenger) greedy and noisy, no good for the animals around him or for the territory it lives.
Sri lanka is falling apart, we need a JRJ back and Muslims need a TB Jayah or at least an ACS Hameed.

How long is Hakeems love affair with the government going to last?. When his perks are reduced, his loyalty will also change and then he will start beating the communal drums about the saffron terrorists..

The truth is that Mr Hakeem to protect his perks and benefit sold his community to the President Mr Rajapakse. During the election campaign Mr Hakeem said in public that the government led by Mr Rajapakse is against the minority. Once Mr Hakeem has the trump card to form the council he sold his community to the President for yet again perks and benefit. The Muslims will never forget this as long as they live.
GoSL has it’s own way of bribing the MPs to have a strong hold on power.
We should blame the politicians who fall for this ‘Honey trap’ of the GoSL for the sorry state of affairs of the country.
We need a strong independent Anti-Bribery commission with legal powers to stop this nonsense.
Everybodies know that Mr.Rauf Hakeem is very cunning in switching from Party to Party for his own benefits and the voters were deceived by their own decision and dig their own graves!!!
Sri Lanka has to bear the high cost of entertaining so called minority leaders in the Govt. and supporting parties, with no intention to devolve power, meaningfully setting up these councils born for North and East while never wanted ‘PALA BABA’ in other provinces has become a white elephant. PALA BABA APITA EPA.
All are dirty buggers; How can we build a single nation for Sri Lankans when all these politicians imposed on masses by the political party leaderships fight among them on Ethnic lines. You all are dirty rats UPFA, TNA, SLMC, TMVP and others. We cannot build a unified country when these guys are dividing Sri Lankans along ethnic lines in order to enjoy luxury lives. Enough is enough.
Hakeem is only good to drive the ice cream van of his wife’s business. He must let the SLMC politics be run by a person of integrity and backbone.
