UNP MP Questions Silence

UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara has questioned the silence of UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa and MP Karu Jayasuriya on the party leadership issue.
Bandara told The Sunday Leader that he had never opposed to Ranil Wickremesinghe being party leader but only insisted on a strong party leadership.
“I had no issue with the party leader himself. But Sajith Premadasa and Karu Jayasuriya had an issue but are now silent about it,” he said.
Bandara also recalled that he had joined former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka on stage to oppose the government and not to create a rift in the UNP. He also said he had no issue with not being invited for the UNP convention next month but will still push for reforms in the UNP to make it a force to be reckoned with in the opposition. (ISA)

  1. Take my word, UNP is going to die soon. Ranil is not the best leader. I can see Sarath Fonseka launching a good party for the best of the country. Lot of UNPers will join him..

Mr Bandara. You are a worm in the process. While Karu and Sajith had to shutup even late they have understood the UNP constitution, you have tried to bring law of the jungle by bumming around. Who is Sarath Fonseka for the UNP to support. Ranil Wickramasinghe did realized that he was betting the wrong horse when UNP supported Sarath Fonseka. This man wants to run politics by giving orders, no nothing of compromise and coalitions. If people wants a military government they should support Sarath Fonseka. Under Rajapaksa thouugh the media blame the government is dictotarial, but everybody seems to have a field day criticizing and publishing unfounded reports withou any penalty slandaring the government.

You are entitled your opinion but, your thinking is constrained by the lack of creativity. Let me ask you the question with an example of true creativity. How many did expect Obama to win the Dem nomination over beating Hillary? How was it possible for Obama, Black guy whose granma is a Kenyan native and still living in Kenya, not only to win the presidential nomination, but also win the second term with unemployment rate hoovering as high as around 8%? Find the answer and look for someone who could the same here. Why worry about MR, SF, RW, etc? Can’t Siddhalepa “Mudalai” or some one like him could do better if the so-called “intellectuals” and the professional politicians act like so dumb that could not topple RW from the chair?

It is a valid question. I am also thinking in the same way. However, it is acceptable if they have decided to wait till the up coming convention to resolve the issue, provided they keep pushing the change of leadership. Everyone involved should understand that the opposition has no future as long as RW is the leader. But, with the planned vote rigging system in place, it is doubtful that there will be any change.
Why are the members in upper echelon of the UNP so preoccupied with unpopular guy when they have at least two better options with Harsha de Silva and Karu Jayasyuriya available?
