Muttuhettigama Confident Of Ministerial Post

By Indika Sri Aravinda

Galle district Parliamentarian Nishantha Muttuhettigama is confident he will receive a Ministerial post from President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Speaking to The Sunday Leader, Muttuhettigama said that the President had assured him the post will be given within the new few weeks.
“I have faith in the President and I am sure a Ministerial post will be given to me,” Muttuhettigama said.

In April last year Parliamentarian Sanath Jayasuriya, Nishantha Muttuhettigama and two others had written to President Mahinda Rajapaksa seeking Ministerial posts.
Muttuhettigama said they had told the President that they should be given Ministerial posts considering their performance at the last parliamentary elections.
Muttuhettigama noted that he had secured the highest number of votes during the last parliamentary elections in Galle.

What depths of absurdity into which this country of ours has fallen into?

There are two wrong assumptions here.

    * One is that the Janadhipathi has enough ministerial posts inside his
pettagama to be distributed among MPs as he wishes.

*The other is that such posts are to be simply conferred on MPs who get
large numbers of votes at elections or whose performance of whatever they
    do is outstanding.

These requests are indications that the gravely important subject of determining on the basis of well determined criteria the allocation of subjects and factions of government and the size of the cabinet comprising the most competent and honourable men/women that accounts for good and economical governance of the country are totally abandoned by the leaders and the MPs therefore are clueless of its gravity.

People pray that some good sense will prevail some day.
