By Indika Sri Aravinda

Child Development and Women’s Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadda is to submit a proposal to parliament on the implementation of the death sentence.
Speaking to The Sunday Leader Minister Karaliyadda said that he has already submitted a report on the death sentence to the Attorney General’s Department.
He said that the government needs to look at amending the laws on rape instead of building highways, ports and airports.
“There is no need if the economy is improving while issues involving children are not addressed,” the Minister said.
He said that officials holding high ranks in various fields including politicians and teachers have also been accused of rape.
Karaliyadda called for the confiscation of property belonging to rapists and stricter laws.
At the same time the Minister also emphasized that the death penalty is the best way to deal with the crime.

Wrong person; ( MAN) to deal with Child Development and Women’s affairs. What does this fellow know about the subject.

well done. I for one whole heartedly support the reintroduction of the death penalty in Sri Lanka and call upon all right thinking citizens to join hands in bringing back the death penalty.

‘Lets hang them high’ This would make the perpetrators of the crime stop and think twice before committing a crime. We need to make Sri Lanka a safe place for its citizens to live in . at the moment sri Lanka has been transformed to a hell on earth after JR introduced his Dharmishtha and removed the death penalty and the icing on the cake was the executive Presidency. You know what I mean??

Very well said Minister. Now where are all the other so called upstanding and honest Ministers to support this and other decent proposals to combat such heinous crimes? MM
