Temple Robbery Solved – Army

The army says a suspect had been arrested over the robbery at a Hindu Temple in Batticaloa recently. Subsequent to the robbery of the Coin Box at Pullayar Kovil in Velleweli, Batticaloa on 1st June by an unidentified group, a team of army personnel were deployed to commence investigations.

During the investigations they were able to identify two of the suspects involved in the robbery. According to army sources the two suspects   were identified as Nadaraja Rajmohan and Mailvanam Sivarasa who were residence of Sinnawatta, Velleweli.

Subsequently the army had apprehended one of the suspects involved in the robbery, Nadaraja Rajmohan at Sinnawatta, Velleweli on 7th June and handed him over to the Police for further investigations.

However the other suspect, Mailvanam Sivarasahas, is believed to have fled the area. The army says that while similar incidents had taken place in the area recently, the TNA had accused the army of being responsible for the thefts.
