No New Places Of Worship

Kotte Mayor Janaka Ranawaka has issued instructions not to permit the construction of new churches, temples, mosques or Hindu temples in the Kotte area.

Ranawaka told The Sunday Leader he issued the instructions in order to ensure the city plan remains intact. He also said that instructions were issued against permitting the opening of new meat stalls and taverns in the area.

The Mayor said that he will obtain approval for his plan from the Kotte Municipal Council.

The Mayor also accused some UPFA members of the Kotte MC of working with opposition members. He said that some UPFA members in the council are involved in politics with the opposition.

The Mayor said he hopes to raise the matter with the President and remove such members from the party if found guilty.

    Can’t call them places of worship, they are places to collect money and show peoples status simple that they are good people.

    This joker does not impose this kind of restrictions Bars and liquors shops.

    there are so many places of worship in the Island in all major cities, all communities must try and make use of these places of worship fully well, unless there is a real need for places of worship due to lack of transport to reach a far away place and so on.
