NPC Member Makes Fervent Plea

UPFA Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member Ramanathan Angajan has called on the council to offer employment to former LTTE cadres who have been released back into society after being rehabilitated.

Angajan says the former rebels have begun to lead a peaceful life with their families but only a few of them have found employment.

“It is necessary to note that a considerable section of them are disabled. It is the bounden duty of the Northern Provincial Council to find them employment opportunities. I propose that the Council offer them employment on a priority basis in accordance with their qualifications,” he said.

He noted that the NPC has been given a historic mandate by the people of the North to deliver what the people want and what the people deserve.

“Our people are watching us, the whole country is watching and the whole world is watching what we are going to do. We cannot afford to make any mistakes. I propose we all set aside our political agenda, rivalry and all the petty politics and stop playing games with the lives of the next generation which is the future of this country. I propose we get together and work-out an action plan and the road map to develop our North to what it deserves to be – the talk should be on integration and unity, not separation,” he added.
