Army Says Transfer Routine

By  Camelia Nathaniel

The army says the transfer of Major General Udaya Perera from Jaffna was a routine transfer after an officer had served in a certain area for a stipulated time period. Military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya, responding to a question raised by The Sunday Leader, said that Perera was appointed to the post of Director General of doctrine and Training in order to benefit from his experience and knowledge.

Prior to taking over as the Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna, Major General Perera served as the Security Forces Commander in Killinochchi. “Maj. Gen Perera has been appointed to the post of Director General of doctrine and Training in order to benefit from his experience and knowledge and develop the tri services doctrinal concept while contributing to the enhancement and development within the tri services,” added Brigadier Wanigasooriya.

Major General K. Jagath Alwis has been appointed as the new Jaffna Commander for the Security Force Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J), with effect from the 28th November. He would also take over an appointment in the Military Intelligence Corps as the Colonel Commandant from tenth December in addition to his appointment as the Jaffna Commander.

Accordingly, his predecessor Maj. General Udaya Perera has been appointed as the Director General of doctrine and Training at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) from the 1st December.

All army men are same, even those appointed as diplomats, and the two military governors.
They consider citizens as slaves, though in other countries they “protect and serve” them.

India is trying to manage some army officer by RAW to throw the govt. So be aware of that.
