MPs Who Crossed To File Case

By Indika Sri Aravinda

The Government parliamentarians, who crossed over to the opposition, are to file a case in the Supreme Court against the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

The legal action will be taken against the statement made by the present General Secretary of the SLFP Anura Priyadarsana Yapa that the SLFP party membership of those who crossed over to the common opposition would be cancelled.

A legal team has been appointed by the SLFP members who joined the opposition to deal with the move to cancel their SLFP membership. Accordingly, Common Opposition Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena, Wasantha Senanayake, M.K.D.S. Gunawardena, Duminda Dissanayake, Rajitha Senaratne, Hirunika Premachandra and other SLFP members who joined the opposition will take legal action against the party decision.

Meanwhile, Gampaha District MP, Wasantha Senanayake said that in addition to legal action they would lodge a complaint on the issue with the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission.
