Complaint Filed Against Sajin

The Voice against Corruption Organisation has filed a petition with the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption asking them to investigate the purchase of aircrafts and helicopters worth of USD 2 billion by former Parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena.

The convener of the Voice against Corruption Organisation Wasantha Samarasinghe said that the former Minister has purchased aircrafts under a private company called Cosmos Aviation Service.
Wasantha said that Sajin has obtained USD one million from a local private bank keeping these aircrafts as collateral and sent the money to the USA.

In addition to this fraud, this company has obtained SL Rs. 13.5 lakhs each from 120 individuals to train them as pilots and provide them with relevant certificates.

Furthermore, it was revealed that this company has not been paying the due rent of SL Rs. 4.15 lakhs for a hanger at Ratmalana Airport since 2011. Beside these frauds, a fuel filling station belongs to Sajin de Vass has refrained from playing SL Rs. 17 million to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. Revealing that the aircrafts Sajin purchased are now in Texas, USA, the Voice against Corruption convener called for an immediate governmental investigation into the matter and find out and reveal the way the former MP acquired the money for the purchase.
