Five-Star International Award For Michelle Boutique Hotel

The best hotels and hospitality related companies from more than 50 countries across the world have been competing to achieve one or more coveted International Hotel Awards, sponsored by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Winners of the International Hotel Awards initially have to prove they are the best nationally before competing against other top scoring hotels from across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, Arabia, Africa and the UK. Joining this highly competitive field for the first time this year are Peru and the Bahamas.

Among this year’s winners is ‘Michelle Boutique Hotel’ with a 5 star award in the category of Small Luxury Hotels for Sri Lanka in the Asia Pacific region.

Following extensive scrutiny by the International Hotel Awards’ judging panel, chaired by Sir David Michells, who commented, “It truly is an outstanding achievement as the standard this year was incredibly high”. Dr Saman weerasinghe, Chairman of Michelle Boutique Hotel commenting on the award said “We are delighted to have won this 5 star award within a very short period since commencing operations and we shall strive even harder to be better” and added “Our primary objective has always been ultimate guest satisfaction and eventually delivering what we promise. This most prestigious award is testamentary to our commitment”.

Stuart Shield, president of the International Hotel Awards, said, “This is the fourth year of the International Hotel Awards. Its aim is to highlight excellence in the luxury hotel industry and praise the outstanding levels of service and style. The competition also boasts specialist categories to further spotlight the most outstanding spa, convention and golf hotels. Smaller luxury hotels are also featured as these specialize in delivering a more intimate environment for those seeking a quieter and more relaxing experience.

“With many five-star hotels offering an exemplary service on a 24-hour a day basis, we feel honoured to be able to highlight those that are making an art out of the process. They really do deserve recognition for all the effort they put into their business as well as their overall presentation and innovation.”  The highest scoring five-star winners from each category of these awards will be automatically put forward for re-judging against the five-star winners in all the other regions of the world – Europe, Africa, Arabia, Asia Pacific, UK and the Americas. Following this re-assessment, the 2014-2015 International winners in each category will be identified as the ‘World’s Best’ he added.

Commenting on their success Managing Director of Michelle, Ranjaka De Mel said “The journey wasn’t rosy all the way. We had our ups and downs but our commitment to be the best or one of the best and paying attention up to the minutest detail has been recognized today and it gives us a great sense of pride and happiness. It certainly was a combined team effort by Resident Manager Dilum Rathnayaka and staff at all levels. This award would not have been a reality if not for their commitment”.
