Leftist Parties To Sign MOU With SLFP

Several Leftist parties have decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP) for the next general election.

The leader of the Sama Samaja Party, Prof. Tissa Vitharana said that the agreements reached with the former Chairman of the SLFP for the past general election and the presidential election are now not valid.

He said that the Leftist parties are yet to decide if they will back the SLFP at the next elections. “We hope that we are able to contest in the future as well via the national coalition, but only God knows what will happen,” he said.

Leader of the Sri Lanka Communist Party, Dew Gunasekara, leader of the Democratic Left Front Vasudeva Nanayakkara and leader of the Sama Samaja Party, Prof. Tissa Vitharana hope to have talks with the SLFP on the matter in the near future. (ISA)
