MR Camp Set For Plan B

By Waruni Karunarathne

With President Maithripala Sirisena refusing to agree to give nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest the next Parliament elections through the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) as the Prime Ministerial candidate, supporters of the former President are now getting ready for plan ‘B’.

Former Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) member and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila said that several Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members are preparing to extend support to Rajapaksa once Parliament is dissolved. He also said that if President Sirisena maintains his defiant stand and refuses to agree to give nominations to Rajapaksa via the UPFA, then Rajapaksa will decide on three other political parties under which he will contest the polls as the Prime Ministerial candidate. “Once the parliament is dissolved, a majority of Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP) parliamentarians led by senior SLFP members will rally behind former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as that is where the people’s power is,” Gammanpila said.

According to Gammanpila, most SLFP parliamentarians are with President Sirisena because he is the one who runs the government machinery.

“They need the government power to survive in politics. But they are well aware that they will need people’s power to face the upcoming Parliamentary Election. They know the people’s power is with former President Rajapaksa,” he added.

Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage told the media last week that on June 9, after handing over a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Parliament, the opposition will gather public support to remove the Government by holding protests around the country.

He also said that public support will be gathered to make former President Mahinda Rajapaksa the next Prime Minister while Maithripala Sirisena remains President.

That is the end of Mahinda…….

If Mahinda contest outside of the SLFP he probably can get into parliament. However, he will certainly reduce the the SLFP/UPFA vote. This will not help him to form government as the Prime Minister. With Mithri refusing to give him nominations his political future seems to be very bleak.

      • Jayalath

Yes ,the future will be bleakly to conspirators which is sure as sun rise next day morning . Sirisena betrayed the nation and country who should be punished like no one before .that is our dream and wish .

It is a pity that MR was mislead before the elections by crooks like Sajin Vaas , Lansa and now by people like Gammanpila and Vasu the political refugees. Mahinda lost his political future prematurely and now he is destroying that of Namal and his family. This is Dittadammavedaniya for the things MR did to SF and former lady CJ SB. Let the future leaders learn from MRs greed. I see MS is on the right track.

    • Well said Mr.Dhammika.What you are saying is very correct!

Ha ha Sirisena in right track to destroy sinhalese dignity. He already surrendered our dignity. Think again we sinhalese have no place on earth , No one recognises us as sinhlaese except in our mother lands. But Tamil speaking people have recognition.

Sirisena is doing all to undermine work done by MR as he was not offered PM position at that time. MR knew Sirisena was working behind to topple MR. This is the reason Sirisena was not given PM.

Look what is happening to Law & order, dead bodies are transported to and fro, Crime, favoritsm , theft has increased. Development work stopped, Prices of essential items are increasing. Central Bank is in a mess. No responsible government officer is talking in fear of FCID. The same terror unleashed by JR is happening under Ranil,. Sirisena has nothing but taking revenge from MR and country is going to dogs. Believe me another 5 years down the lane everyone will regret unless we remove Ranil from PM position now and then hold elections for a fresh mandate.

Tell me one incident where the dignity of the Sinhalese was preserved during MR’s time. At Weliveria it was Sinhalese who were beaten, chased and scolded in Filth. Almost every week, it was Sinhalese University Students who were to face tear gas.
Of-course the Tamils got a double dose. But the dignity of the Sinhalese was never recognized by MR. Take the “dansalas” given by him during the election days. He was brought the dignity of the Sinhalese to the ground, making them to vote for him for just a meal.
What is happening now is restoration of dignity, Dignity of Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and all other communities. of course it is a slow process.
Had MS behaved like MR, the later may not be amoung the living.
PM position to be given to the senior minister who can control the cabinet. It should be given based on the person’s ability. But the position was given to the least able person where even his media secretory has cheated him. (Or that is what he said)
I too have disagreements with certain things, the way things happen, and 20A. But MR is not an alternate.
Wimal, Vasu, Dinesh and Gammanpila are political refugees. They cannot survive if MR is not there. That is why t

Sorry I pressed the post button little earlier… (Like MR calling for election)

Wimal, Vasu, Dinesh and Gammanpila are political refugees. They cannot survive if MR is not there. That is why they are bending backwards to bring MR.
Take Vasu: The one who talked about working class rule, went and voted for 18th amendment, not because he liked it, but because he did not want to get into the bad books of MR. (Dignity?) Now he has gone to the level of using filth in Parliament.
Take the former cabinet. It was just a rubber stamp saying “Yes Sir” to all what MR says. (Dignity of the cabinet?)
Take the ministers. Most of them had just a name board. No money was allocated. If they need any money they need to contact one of the brothers.
Can you remember how many times, they were scolded in filth by MR?
While some of them were called ministers, it was another person, who is either a “monitoring MP” or relative of MR, who was actually running the show. Dignity of the ministers.
Take the Supreme court. The Chief justice was illegally removed and police prevented her from entering the courts. They they appointed a person who was not even a judge as the chief justice.

Voter, I’ll tell you when dignity of Sinhalese was lost, when UNP killed thousands of young men like dogs on the streets indiscriminately , and some Sinhalese were burnt alive with tyres around the neck. Not a single investigation yet.
But they all accusing MR of killing 2 or 3 journalists and getting rid of handful of Thugs and gangsters with white vans.

      • wasalaya

        Well said sir

    • Jayalath

Hello, are you really in wake ? The politic is a game and like casino which is the truth . So ,puppet Sirisena won on jan for some luck but he pay the price very soon . He deserves it ,he is the biggest crook I ever seen in politics , so he should go to hell

Some in the public are day dreaming with their own myths.
The reality can not be ignored.

Due to this reality that we find no consencious taken yet to dissolve the parliament.
    Its 37 days over due.
This is what happens when you give false promises or promises that you can not uphold. Those who gave promises were seasoned politicians.

it appears to appease America the Parliamentary group leaders will have to turn to the See Eye A. They are quite used to such actions DB euphoria can be brought into play. .
We see perfect democracy in Iraq, Libya even in Egyp put in place by USA & the West. Very soon in Afganistan.

Sri Lanka masses can not be fooled for long as they are political animals.

    • Jayalath

Ok ,let’s see who will come out of the foolishness that they did on last jan , mass of people are getting ready to get rid of this nutters .

PRES MS , KICK THAT “MAHAHORA JARAPAKSA” OUT OF THE FACE OF THE EARTH ALONG WITH GONIBILLA GAMA , PARANAGAMAGE , ALL THESE ARE ROGUES OF THE HIGHEST ORDER IN SRI LANKA , TRYING TO BRING THE BIG ROGUE JARAPAKSA AND THE NOTORIOUS MURDERER OF SRI LANKA/’S HISTORY , DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT TO THIS , NOT A SINGLE PEACE LOVING PERSON WILL FOR THIS “MAHAHORA JARAPAKSA”

  5. Concerned_Citizen

This is bad news. The only way Sri Lanka’s government can function smoothly is if the Head of State is also the Head of Government. With Sirisena’s loss of control within the SLFP, Sri Lanka appears headed for an extended period of political instability.

    • Jayalath

No you wrong to praise conspirators,Rajapaksa did not lose but it snatched by coup which we know today and it will take back as soon as possible .

      • Poor Lankan

You fool .Do not support Rajapakse who has ruined this country and set up his family to rob the poor man who is still suffering due to the worst leader we had after independence.!!!!

      • Samitha

Another Idiotic member of the MRs personality cult

  6. Mahinda Rajapaksa

Gammanpila, what people power are you talking about. Your leader or Ali Baba is alleged to accumulate and flushed with lot of wealth, each one of you are alleged to have been recipients of minute shares of his ill gotten money. For example it is public knowledge that you dirty guys visits Singapore very frequently. Ali Baba’s ill gotten money and misused state funds and assets were not good enough to defeat Maithripala.,why do you think it will be different next time in an general elections. Do not underestimate us we know you dirty politicians were up to when Ali Baba was in power.

  7. Jayalath

Right or wrong that Sirisena conspired with UNP to defeat Rajapaksa not knowing the crisis could arise in the future ,now he is in the threat of bringing back PA government who had no sign of losing power for decades . I have serious concern about Sirisena’s integrity who betrayed the Pa to clear his way to power ,does it has any moral grounds . I feel there aren’t . Because he could have had enough chances to fight being in the party or to pretend of retiring in politics , so there were numerous ways of throwing his dissatisfaction toward Rajspaksa , instead what he did was wrong and unacceptable . That’s why we have this mess now .it is not a good situation at all levels considering to state affairs . Our country is going backward and standstill . And the impotent of new guys create anarchism .

  8. UG EARLIER ANNOUNCED THAT HE KNEW MR WAS LOOSING THE ELECTIONS IN JAN. HE IS NOW CLAIMING THAT MR HAS THE PEOPLES POWER. MR MAY HAVE SOME SUPPORT BUT UG HAS NO PEOPLES BACKING AND WILL NEED TO CLING ON TO THE SATAKAYA FOR HIS SURVIVAL IN POLITICS. THAT IS WHY HE IS TIRELESSLY WORKING FOR MR
