UNFGG To Be Registered

At a meeting held last Thursday, leaders of the constituent parties of the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) decided to officially register the party.

Speaking to The Sunday Leader, the Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and newly appointed Minister of National Dialogue Mano Ganesan said that the leaders of the coalition parties of the UNFGG including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe decided to officially register the UNFGG at a meeting held last Thursday with the party leaders of the UNFGG.

He added that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, Minister Malik Samarawickrama, Minister Champika Ranawaka, Minister Rauf Hakeem, Minister Rishard Bathiudeen and himself had participated in the discussion.

“Leaders of the coalition met for a discussion last Thursday at Temple Trees. We decided to officially register and form the UNFGG Alliance,” he said and added that the three parties of the TPA are also part and parcel of this formation.  Minister Ganesan also said that meanwhile, the TPA has also decided to register TPA at the Department of Elections.

“Local government elections will be held by March next year. We will face elections either as UNFGG or TPA without compromising the stability of our government,” he said. Democratic People’s Front (DPF) led by minister Mano Ganesan, National Union of Workers led by Minister Palani Digambaran and Up-country People’s Front led by V. Radhakrishnan joined forces to form the TPA soon after the last presidential election in January and joined the UNFGG to face the last general election.
