UN Resolution Not A Threat To Lanka – JHU

by Waruni Karunarathne

The Jathika Hela Urumuya (JHU) says the recent UN resolution on Sri Lanka supported by America does not threaten the sovereignty of the country as claimed by some political parties.

Media Spokesperson of the JHU Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe told The Sunday Leader that the JHU will not let any force to overpower the judiciary system in Sri Lanka and threaten the sovereignty of the country at any cost.

“Even though the UN report suggests a hybrid court or a court of similar nature to look into the issues raised internationally, they need to pass that through the parliament. They cannot implement anything in the resolution without getting the consent of parliament.

“If any system which overpowers the Sri Lankan judiciary is proposed to parliament, we will not support it,” he said. When questioned if the JHU would support the idea of a hybrid court, he added that it is still early to decide as they need to first look into the draft proposal when it is submitted to parliament by the government.

Meanwhile, Warnasignhe added, that during the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime, the State administration maintained poor diplomatic relationships with the international community – whereas now there is a better environment and opening for Sri Lanka to build relationships with the international community, and Sri Lanka should make use of this space.

JHU is nothing but a puppet of the UNP now. JHU leaders no longer have a spine. That is good for the rest of the world. Singhalese will soon be wiped out.

Fat hope. The dictator duo will bypass the parliament. The parliament also has 2/3 majority because of JHU and other idiots. So what is the problem in getting through the resolution.
