Rathupaswala Set To Ignite Again

Rathupaswala is set to ignite once again with the residents and unions warning they will take to the streets if their concerns are not addressed.

The All Ceylon Teachers’ Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin said that the water issue has not yet been resolved nor have the victims of the Rathupaswala clash been compensated.

He said that if there is no solution to the issue by the third week of this month, trade unions and residents of Rathupaswala will stage a mass protest.

Clashes erupted in Rathupaswala in 2013 when the army clashed with civilians protesting and demanding for clean water. The protest was staged over drinking water in the area which was believed to have been contaminated from chemical waste released from a glove factory.

Stalin urged the government to address the Rathupaswala water issue soon in order to avert what could be a repeat of the Rathupaswala clash. (A.W)

The then Opposition Politicians cashed in on the Rathupaswela debacle for their advantage and once in power has forgotten the promises they made.

Yahapalanaya politicians have become nocompoops with their leaders.
