Palitha Refuses To Vacate His House

By Ifham Nizam

Puttalam District UNP Parliamentarian and State Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Palitha Range Bandara has  raised concerns with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe over the failure to give him the perks which was promised to him.

Bandara claimed that State Ministers were not given the perks which were promised to them despite the painstaking efforts to bring back the United National Party (UNP) to power.

Among the concerns he has is that he has not been given enough vehicles and staff to carry out his work. The Minister also said that he continues to occupy a house of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and will vacate the house only after he is given a new house.

“I was given this house as my official residence when I served as the Deputy Minister of Power and Energy. Although my portfolio had changed I am still a member of the government and a Minister so I should be given a new house. It is not only myself but all other 11 State Ministers have a number of logistical issues and shortage of staff,” he added.

However, Petroleum Ministry officials said that they have become victims due to the negligence of some politicians and that houses which are managed by the Power and Energy Ministry are now being used by officials working under Ministries not related to the Petroleum Ministry.

Why not the CPC take action to obtain the vacant position of the house owned by the CPC and presently occupied by a female official of the Petroleum Ministry – assessment No. 380/52, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo-07. The cost of repairs to this house, before it was handed over to this female official by a former chairman of CPC, amounted to several millions of rupees. It was a “santhosam” given to her by the then incumbent chairman as a reward for supplying him with confidential and sensitive information of the ministry. When the dismissal letter was being prepared by the Minister to sack the said CPC chairman this female official stealthily conveyed the information to the said CPC Chairman, who immediately visited the Ministry office and handed over his resignation letter.

WE sincerely urge My3 and RW to kick this man OUT and all who merely want “perks”. They never talk of “perks” when they are out canvassing and now they have nothing in their minds but “perks”. Rotten, corrupt garbage….

    • If the Ministers and Deputies are entitled to official residences,Mr.Range Bandara’s claim is justifiable.According to him,he is occupying a house belongs to some other Ministry.
