Unqualified Officer To Be Sent For Training

An unqualified officer who has allegedly had prepared false documentations is to be sent to Malaysia for a special United Nations training exercise for the military.

A second level officer in the Army, Sri Lanka Volunteer Force hierarchy, is said to have been involved in obtaining clearance for the unqualified officer to attend the training exercise in Malaysia.

Sources said the decision has resulted in qualified officers losing the opportunity to attend the UN sponsored training session.

Military sources claimed that the officer nominated for the training session in Malaysia is also receiving several perks after producing forged documents.

When contacted, Major General H.C.P. Goonetilleke, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force said he was not aware of the allegations. He said that if a complaint is filed over the allegations, then appropriate action will be taken.

The sources, however, said documents related to the allegation have been sent to the military hierarchy.

The training exercise in Malaysia is scheduled to take place from February 15 to 26. (SW)

Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force should investigate whether there is a complaint or not. That is ‘Yahapalanaya’.
