MDP Slams Yameen For Consulting Lankan Black Magician

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has slammed Maldives President President Abdulla Yameen Yamin Abdul Gayooom for allegedly consulting a Sri Lankan black magician.

The MDP said that the media had revealed that President Yameen has been consulting a Sri Lankan practitioner of black magic before taking political decisions.

The MDP also said that the Maldives Police Service (MPS) had announced that they are investigating a judicial arrest warrant, which was reportedly issued against President Yameen.

“The MPS have further alleged that former President Mohamed Nasheed telephoned a senior member of the security services encouraging him to arrest the President. The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has received a large dossier of evidence implicating President Yameen, amongst other things, in corruption and money laundering amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars,” the MDP said in an email to The Sunday Leader.

Meanwhile a Maldives key government official said that an attempt was made to overthrow Maldives President Abdulla Yameen on Sunday by a group of individuals who had forged an arrest warrant to arrest the leader, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The official said that a group had broken into a local Magistrate Court on Saturday night and forged the arrest warrant.

“An unsuccessful attempt had been made to overthrow the president. The perpetrators who are now under investigation forged an arrest warrant to arrest President Yameen on the charge of corruption,” the official said. The government alleged that copies of the forged arrest warrant were distributed immediately to police and key Defence force personnel.
