No US Visa For Minister Fonseka

The United States has again rejected a visa for Minister Sarath Fonseka, sources close to Fonseka told The Sunday Leader. Sources said that the visa had been rejected over allegations of war crimes said to have been committed when Fonseka was the army commander.

Fonseka had applied for a US visa before he was appointed a Minister as well but it was rejected even then.

Now a cabinet Minister, Fonseka sought a visa to travel to the US on a private visit but the request was rejected.

Sources said that Fonseka has taken up the matter with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to lodge a complaint with the US State Department. (AW)

Are these reasons for rejecting SF’s US Visa also applicable to the
    Rajapakse brothers ?

    We respect the embassy decision.

  3. I am some what surprised on USA immigration law. After all Sarath Fonseka was working for the Rajapakses during the war. How come Gothabaya Rajapakse made a recent visit to USA when we all know he was responsible for human rights abuse. I don’t think Sarath Fonseka did not do any human rights abuse.
